Trust-Based Relational Intervention
A TBRI-informed program for caregivers, educators, and professionals
Working with children from hard places — including those who have experienced abuse, neglect, developmental trauma, foster care, or adoption.
What is TBRI?
TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) is an evidence-based caregiving model designed to support vulnerable children — particularly those who have experienced relational trauma such as abuse, neglect, developmental trauma, foster care, or adoption.
Developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University (TCU), TBRI is built on the premise that because relational trauma happens in the context of human relationships, true healing must also occur through supportive, trusting relationships.
